Summer Is Over

It has been a glorious summer for my family. I can honestly say that I could never tire of relishing in summer's gentle caresses, in swimming in the Mediterranean, hiking in Corsican mountains, eating French baguette and cheese, savoring the tanned skin and bleached hair of my daughters.

At 4:21 am tomorrow morning, the autumnal equinox arrives, taking summer and her balmy nights away from me, for what feels like forever to a New Yorker. We may still have some hot sunny days, even beach days for the brave, but the evening chill will remain.

As the Goddess of my hearth, I know that I will find joy in making those hearty soups from our local farms' harvests but I also know that I will tire of my cozy hearth after winter's unfair five month hold on us. I will try not to mourn the falling leaves. Instead, I will relish the rosy cheeks of the little ones running and playing in them.

I Love My Job

I was honored to photograph the exquisite Danielle two weekends ago. She had henna on her belly and we made some beautiful belly portraits. What a treat!!! Then, we decided to include the papa, Andres, in another shoot where the concept was a modern couple in New York. We got them all dressed up in white and I was dreaming of John and Yoko when surprise!!! Andres got down on one knee and pulled out an engagement ring! What a moment!!!

Today, I received the sweetest message from the happy couple: "You really inspired Andres and I to see parenting in this city in a whole new way and helped us to have some really sweet bonding time and helped us to deeper celebrate this little lump o' love in my tummy. I can't thank you or the universe enough. It was truly serendipitous…"

I love my job.
